University Year in Industry opportunities at Human

Human is a successful software development team based in Manchester City Centre. We design and build excellent web and mobile applications for truly wonderful clients. We're looking for university students to join our team as part of the Year in Industry component of your Computer Science or Software Engineering degree.

We create both high-quality on-brand applications for end consumers as well as easy-to-use tools for those running operations, research, marketing and management functions 'back of house'. We help companies to access and understand the data they have better as well as helping them to change and improve their day-to-day work by developing new user interfaces and business applications which reduce friction and make everyone's life better.

Working with Human during your Year in Industry you'll be exposed to all aspects of working within a software agency, your primary role being programming on client or internal applications within our small, agile development teams. We believe in shared learning and development; your interests and talents will be nurtured so that you can thrive. Human primarily work in LAMP stack, JavaScript and Cordova technologies hosted on cloud infrastructure such as AWS, but you'll get the opportunity to tinker with other technologies and languages too.

Human is a great place to work; we offer flexible working hours and don't believe in long days. Half a day a week is dedicated to personal projects allowing you to experiment with new technolgies and explore new ideas. We get lunch in on a Friday for the whole team and each month we go out for a social evening - pool, bowling, crazy golf or even board games. And of course we have a ping-pong table in our spacious office on Princess Street.

Almost the entirety of what I do in my job is software development and so I spend nearly all of my time developing products, whether that be planning the design of the next major implementation, testing other people’s code or writing my own. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last six months and look forward to my final six as well. I have learnt a lot and grown as a person and developer Daniel Wainwright, CM 4-years BSc with Industrial Experience
