The Late Shows App

Give your target audience the best experience

The Late Shows is a free, annual, late-night cultural festival in Newcastle Gateshead whose festival target audience is the under 35s. Feedback from the old website called for a great mobile experience to help guide this savvy, curious age group through a weekend of festivities in May 2016. With events and experiences taking place across 70 venues, a smooth and slick mobile site became a priority for ensuring the success of a festival designed to be experienced on the move.

“I know that this year I don’t need to worry about the website as the platform is ready to go again; I can put more energy into working with venues to make it the best experience for our audiences” Jonathan Loach, Communications Officer - Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums

The Late Shows and the team at Human identified that the key to a great user experience was easy access to urban event information, in the moment and on the go. With a site that successfully brought together a digital platform to optimise and enhance live experiences, festival-goers were soon spreading the word about The Late Shows and getting their friends involved too. The Late Shows 2016 attracted over 40,000 visitors - the most successful year so far.
